Alific is San Diego producer and multi-instrumentalist Brendan Dane: roots reggae and dub folded into hip-hop, downtempo and electronic production, played live by a full band. Six albums, 27 singles, and sold-out hometown nights at The Harp in Ocean Beach.

Alific is the project of San Diego producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and performer Brendan Dane. Raised in Athens, Ohio and trained in audio production at Ohio University, he has spent more than twenty-five years in professional audio across music, film and television. A move to Washington D.C. in 2011 shaped his debut album Dub in the District; a partnership with Rootfire and two national tours as touring keyboardist and DJ for The Movement followed. Albums Pacific (2016), Eclectic Radio (2018) and Write It On The Wall (2023) carried it forward. He now leads a full San Diego band.

Alific (pronounced Ah-lif-ik) blends roots reggae and dub with hip-hop, downtempo and electronic production — detailed records rebuilt for the stage. Brendan Dane grew up in Athens, Ohio, began on piano under his father’s blues keys, and studied audio production at Ohio University. Twenty-five years of professional audio work in music, film and television followed. A formative six years in San Diego led to a reunion with Scott Woodruff of Stick Figure; a 2011 move to Washington D.C. produced his debut album Dub in the District and a creative partnership with Rootfire founder Seth Herman. In 2014 he joined The Movement as touring keyboardist and DJ for two national tours, sharing stages with Iration, Fortunate Youth, The Green, HIRIE and Stick Figure. Albums Pacific (2016), Eclectic Radio (2018) and Write It On The Wall (2023) continued the run. Back in San Diego, he now performs with a full band — Brendan Dane, Kyle Valle, Derek Waldmann, Johnny Keys, Jacob and Jordeen — combining DJ-style mixing, looping, bass, guitar, keyboards and vocals. The band has sold out The Harp in Ocean Beach three times and headlined a sold-out night at The Holding Company.
